Harold N. Godwin 2004
Harold N. Godwin, M.S., R.Ph., FASHP, is Professor and Chair of Pharmacy Practice at the University of Kansas School of Pharmacy in Kansas City, Kansas. He also serves as Associate Dean of Pharmacy for Medical Center Affairs. From 1969 through June, 2004, he also served as Director of Pharmacy at The University of Kansas Hospital associated with the University of Kansas Medical Center.
He graduated from the University of Kansas with a B.S. degree in Pharmacy and later received a M.S. degree in Hospital Pharmacy from the Ohio State University in Columbus, Ohio. Concurrently with graduate work, he completed a two-year Accredited Residency in Hospital Pharmacy at The Ohio State University Hospitals.
He currently serves on the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists (ASHP) Research and Education Foundation Board of Directors (2002-2006) and the Kansas Pharmacy Foundation Executive Committee (Vice President). He also currently serves on the Pharmacy Council Executive Committee of the University HealthSystem Consortium (UHC) which is a group of Administrators of Pharmacy Services in all University Health Systems. He recently completed two six year terms on the Board of Directors of the American Council on Pharmaceutical Education (ACPE) which accredits Schools of Pharmacy and Pharmacy Continuing Education Providers. He was President of ACPE from 1992-96. He is a former President of the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists (ASHP), the Kansas Pharmacists Association (KPhA), and the Greater Kansas City Society of Hospital Pharmacists. He received the H.A.K. Whitney Award, ASHP’s highest honor in 1991. He is also the 1999 recipient of the John W. Webb Lecture Award and Visiting Professor bestowed by the Northeastern University School of Pharmacy and in 2000 received the American Pharmaceutical Association’s Distinguished Practitioner Award for Hospital Pharmacy. In 2002, he was designated a Fellow by the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists (FASHP).
Harold Godwin is active in health-system pharmacy practice, is an educator, frequently contributes to the literature, serves on several journal editorial boards, and speaks various subjects relating to the profession.
